 May 2012 marks the end of my tenure as Chair of the Dallas CPA Society. We’ve had a great year marked with several significant events. The most recent event occurred earlier this month and was the largest of the year.
Our annual CPE conference, Convergence 2012, occurred on May 4, 2012, and produced a record turnout with over 1,250 registered at the lunch event. This CPE event began several years ago as a means of providing low-cost or free CPE to our members and has grown in size and popularity each year. The event has also produced increasingly noteworthy speakers and participants. This year’s event featured, for example, U.S. Senator John Cornyn as the keynote speaker, as well as several prominent members of the Texas Legislature, the Internal Revenue Service and the Securities and Exchange Commission, as participants...

Dallas CPA Society Golf Tournament

 The 11th annual DCPAS golf tournament will be played on Monday, May 21, 2012, at Gentle Creek Golf Club in Prosper, Texas. Join your colleagues and friends for lots of fun, prizes, awards, good food, and more. Prizes will be awarded for closest to the pin, longest drive, straightest drive, etc.
Registration begins at 10:00am, box lunch at 11:00am, shot gun start at 12Noon, and dinner at 5:00pm.
Individual entry is $75.00 for members. Non-member individual entry fee is $200.00 (unaccompanied by a member). Member team entry fee is $270.00. Toastmasters Club News
Have you ever attended a CPE session that had a presenter so accomplished that you wondered how they ever attained their skills and confidence?
The Dallas CPA Society’s Toastmaster group is a proud part of the Society. Several members of the Society’s leadership are current or former Toastmasters members. The group was started to assist Dallas CPAs with their speaking and presentation skills, whether prepared speeches or off-the-cuff. If you did not have an opportunity to stop by our table at Convergence 2012, no worries! All Society members are welcome to join us for our weekly meetings! The club will meet for an hour every Tuesday in May at 2521 Fairmount Street at 7:30am, take advantage of this membership benefit!
