In surveys and focus groups conducted in recent months, DCPAS members clearly expressed a desire for more networking opportunities.
You asked for it – you got it! In the coming year, DCPAS will host several networking events, beginning with a special kick-off reception on July 9th.
On that evening, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, all DCPAS members are invited to enjoy drinks, appetizers, networking and good times at BlackFinn American Saloon,
4440 Belt 
Line Road in Addison. The event is free to DCPAS members, and promises to be a fun way to wrap up your Thursday workday. Situated on the south side of Belt Line Road just east of Midway Road, BlackFinn is a favorite gathering place for the local after work crowd. I recently visited BlackFinn and found that the food was good, the service was cheerful, and parking was a breeze.
I hope you will join me for this special kick-off reception, and for all the year’s DCPAS networking events. DCPAS board members, committee chairs and staff will be on hand, as well as CPA leaders from public practice, industry and academia. Don’t miss this rich networking opportunity! Member Appreciation Days Planned: Please Respond to the Survey
The DCPAS introduced its free CPE day in 2004, and the event has grown in popularity ever since. The most recent CPE day, held in May at the Hilton Anatole hotel in Dallas, attracted over 700 participants. In the interest of continued improvement, I’m asking all members to answer a few survey questions about CPE day. Please complete the survey, whether you have attended CPE day or not. The information will be used in planning future Member Appreciation Days, which will feature additional free CPE offerings.

DCPAS: A Unique Leadership Laboratory
As your Chairman for 2009-2010, I am keenly interested in maximizing the value of membership in the Society. With that goal in mind, I am reminded that with any voluntary organization, you get out of it what you put into it. Voluntary organizations like DPCAS provide a unique leadership laboratory, where members can develop valuable career skills, all while supporting their profession. The Society offers a number of opportunities for member involvement, and I encourage you to become familiar with those opportunities. You and your fellow members benefit when you share your unique skills and abilities in service to DCPAS.
