DCPAS Annual Meeting
A World Gone Wiki
by Mitch Perry, CPA

Mitch Perry, CPA
Renowned Socioeconomic Futurist and Author to Speak at DCPAS Annual Meeting
Carolyn Corbin, president of the Center for the 21st Century, will be the keynote speaker at the Dallas CPA Society’s annual meeting, to be held January 21st, 5:30pm, at Cityplace. As always, the annual meeting will feature the election of our next slate of officers, networking and dinner. If you have not already registered, you may do so now use this link.

As an internationally renowned socioeconomic futurist, author, and speaker, Carolyn Corbin’s work offers tremendous insights into organizational and personal issues we face in the 21st century. Carolyn has been featured in hundreds of TV, radio, Internet, and periodical interviews, including appearances on ABC, CBS, and NBC affiliates, CNN, the Gannett newswire and United Press International in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Her clients and sponsors include the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency, Yahoo, IBM, Ericsson, U.S. Department of Defense, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, American Airlines, Johnson & Johnson, University of Texas LBJ School of Public Affairs, and the American Heart Association, among others.

Carolyn is the author of four books, and is currently working on her fifth book, which will be published in the latter part of 2010. Her most recent book, A Promise to America, was released in 2003. She is also actively engaged with her third book, Great Leaders See the Future First, which has been named in the top five of The Business Success Store’s “best of the best” Million Dollar Leadership Books from Amazon.com by The Empowered Business. The book was also named by The Business Book Bookstore & Review as one of the “100 Best Business Books for 2007 from Amazon.com.” Great Leaders See the Future First debuted as #1 on the Dallas Morning News bestseller list and has been #1 several times since, and Carolyn has been invited to bring the message in Great Leaders See the Future First to England, Italy, Ireland, Sweden, Malaysia, South Africa, Nigeria, Singapore, Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad, and Turkey. Publishing rights to the book have been sold in Korea and China and the text has been translated into their respective languages. Great Leaders See the Future First is being used as suggested reading in such graduate schools of business as California State University and in universities as far away as the University of Zululand, South Africa—as well as in corporations, public schools, non-profit organizations, seminaries, and governments in numerous global locations.

On January 21st, Carolyn will be speaking on Leadership 2010: Impacting a World Gone Wiki, the subject of her current research and upcoming book, due to be published in 2010. Organizations have evolved through three stages and are now entering a fourth stage. Just like the wiki websites on the Internet, organizations will be open-source, dynamic, and chaotic. The question becomes: How do leaders move such an organization forward? Most leaders continue to lead with methods and philosophies used in earlier stages of organizational development. However, with continuing globalization, the technology revolution, and ever-increasing workplace diversity, Carolyn notes that it is impossible to move an organization forward without the necessary leadership skills for a wiki environment. Her presentation will address these aspects of her current research:
  • The context of leadership in a world gone wiki
  • Why the future will not be an extension of the present
  • Trends driving the wiki environment
  • Five critical Stage 4.0 leadership initiatives
I urge you not to miss this informative presentation on January 21st. Register to attend the annual meeting today use this link now. I look forward to seeing you there.
