| “Bring an Attorney to Lunch” is the theme of a very special chapter meeting scheduled for November 7th. Bring your favorite attorney to the Belo Mansion at 11:30am for a pleasant lunch, good company, and assorted door prizes. Dallas CPA Society’s chair-elect, Ken Sibley, and Baker & Botts attorney Tim Mountz, will be the presenters at this event. If you don’t have a favorite attorney, don’t worry, there will be some to pass around. This is purely a social activity with lots of good networking opportunities. Bring your firm associates for a fun filled lunch hour.

November Chapter Meeting
Mark your calendar for November 7, 2006, at 11:30am!! The meeting will be held at the Belo Mansion. It is called “Bring Your Attorney to Lunch” – or – what your attorney can do for you and what you can do for your attorney. Timothy Mountz with Baker and Botts will be a featured speaker. Pre-Season Tax Review Courses
The Dallas CPA Society is pleased to announce that the pre-season tax review courses – both individual and corporations – will be held on January 4 and 5, 2007. They will be presented by Dr. Blaise Bender from San Antonio, Texas. Watch the newsletter for more information.

Large Chapter Challenge Update
Last month the Dallas CPA Society PAC let you know about the Large Chapter Challenge. The current results (through 9/14/06) show that we have achieved only 28% of our goal. How does that rate with other chapters? Houston has 53% of its goal. Why donate to the PAC and help us win our goal? Not only does the Dallas CPA Society PAC and the TSCPA PAC protect your certificate, it protects us as individuals and business owners. TSCPA now has a TSCPA Margin Tax Task Force which is studying the Texas Margin tax for discussion on possible changes to the law to make it more understandable, technically correct and fair. The TSCPA has also published an Election Day Guide to help make your Nov. 7 voting easier. We are accepting donations currently, large or small. Every person donating helps us get closer to our goal. Annual Coat Drive
Help a kid stay warm this winter! The annual coat drive has begun for some of the neediest children in the metroplex, ages 6 through teenager, sizes 6 through adult. These “gently worn” coats will be distributed at the Love for Kids, Inc. Christmas Party on December 9, 2006. Warm gloves, winter hats and scarves are also appreciated by these children...
