Annual Coat Drive
Help a kid stay warm this winter! The annual coat drive has begun for some of the neediest children in the metroplex, ages 6 through teenager, sizes 6 through adult. These “gently worn” coats will be distributed at the Love for Kids, Inc. Christmas Party on December 9, 2006. Warm gloves, winter hats and scarves are also appreciated by these children...

ROPO Committee Activities
The Relations with Other Professional Organizations Committee (ROPO) of the Dallas Chapter is chartered to holding networking events with peer professional organizations throughout the Metroplex to provide networking opportunities for Dallas CPA members. The purpose of this is to provide opportunities to develop and promote relationships between Dallas CPA members and other financial, legal, local government and other professional organizations. The events we hold have focused primarily on social networking (happy hours), with some special events such as attendance at a Rough Riders baseball game, lunch with an Economist from the Dallas Federal Reserve, and other non-traditional forms of networking...

Florence Shapiro Scholarship
On September 26, 2006, the Dallas CPA Society in conjunction with the TSCPA announced the establishment of the Florence Shapiro Scholarship. This scholarship was set up to honor Senator Florence Shapiro for her efforts toward improving the Texas education system. The scholarship will be awarded to a deserving accounting student in time for the Spring 2007 semester. Tax-deductible contributions are being collected through the end of the year. Sign Up for Love for Kids Christmas Party
All of the toys collected at the Margarita Ball will be distributed to the more than 4,000 children who will attend the Love for Kids Christmas Party on Saturday, December 9 at the Circle R Ranch in Flower Mound. The Dallas CPA Society needs 90 volunteers for this event. Volunteers need to arrive at the Circle R Ranch by 8:30am. A volunteer party is held following the children's departure at 1pm.
