 During these past months while I have been serving as your Chair there have been many opportunities for you to be involved with other Dallas CPA Society members. Many of you have become involved for the first time and told me how much you enjoyed it. So many others haven’t quite “gotten out of their office” yet. For some of you there is a certain amount of fear in meeting people you don’t know. For others it may be the ones you do know. What you don’t realize is that you will probably have more in common with this group than you think. There is the quote from the great philosopher Ray Romano “If my father had hugged me even once, I'd be an accountant right now.” Maybe you can have an impact on someone else with even a simple gesture...

Free CPE Day Coming For Dallas CPA Society Members on May 2, 2008
 The Dallas CPA Society in association with the Center for Nonprofit Management of Dallas is presenting the 4th annual Free CPE Day on May 2, 2008, at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. This year’s conference includes the first joint Dallas CPA Society and Center for Nonprofit Management workshop which includes a special 8-hour track for the Dallas Nonprofit Community.for more information.

Scholarship To Honor Jim And Charlie Smith
The TSCPA Accounting Education Foundation is developing a scholarship in honor of Jim and Charlie Smith. The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize Jim for his long history of leadership for TSCPA and the Dallas CPA Society as well as provide assistance to worthy accounting students. The goal is to raise $15,000 to permanently fund the scholarship. It is hoped to achieve the goal before the June 2008 TSCPA Annual Meeting in order to announce the endowed scholarship fund at that time.
