The inaugural CFO of the Year Awards, in association with the Dallas Business Journal, ACG Dallas/Fort Worth and FEI, will be held on October 30, 2008, at the Westin Galleria Hotel. Other sponsors include Weaver and Tidwell, Marsh, Robert Half, and ViewPoint Bank.
This recognition will be given to financial professionals in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for outstanding performance in their roles as corporate financial stewards.

SAVE THE DATE! November 13, 2008
On November 13, the Dallas CPA Society, in association with the Texas Association of Business and several other groups, will host a luncheon featuring Lt. Governor David Dewhurst. The luncheon will be at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. Registration will be available soon at the DCPAS website.

Important Parking Information for TSCPA and Dallas CPA Society Seminar Attendees
Please note that all seminar attendees are required to park on the top level of the parking garage which is designated guest parking. Guest parking in front of the building is not open to seminar participants.
Entrance to the 5th floor guest parking is located at the East end of the parking garage next to Benihana’s. Thank you for your compliance with the building rules.

Scholarship Committee News
Did you know the Dallas CPA Society maintains two scholarship funds – one is in memory of Philip Vogel and the other is in memory of William E. Burch? Mr. Vogel was President Elect of the Chapter when he perished in the Delta Airlines crash at DFW in 1988. Mr. Burch was President of the Chapter in 1985-86.
Since 2002, $56,000 in scholarship funds have been distributed to 42 recipients. Scholarships are designated for junior, senior, and graduate accounting majors. Students from UTA, UTD, UNT, SMU, and TAMU are eligible to apply for the scholarships...

Annual Coat Drive
Help a kid stay warm this winter! The annual coat drive has begun for some of the neediest children in the metroplex, ages 6 through teenager, sizes 6 through adult. These "gently worn" coats will be distributed at the Love for Kids, Inc. Christmas Party on December 13, 2008. Warm gloves, winter hats and scarves are also appreciated by these children...
