Love For Kids Charity Event
For the 33rd year, the Dallas CPA Society participated in the Love for Kids Children’s Christmas Party on December 13th at the Circle R Ranch in Flower Mound. If you have not participated in this event in the past, please consider doing so next year. It is a sight to see! Love for Kids hosted approximately 3,000 children for the largest Christmas Party for underprivileged children in Texas. Children between the ages of 6 - 12 enjoyed a day of entertainment, horseback riding, outdoor games, hay rides, bubble bounce, carnival games, food and prizes. DCPAS members handed out over 700 coats and hundreds of gloves to the children.

Dallas Morning News Tax Hotline – Sunday, February 8, 2009
16th Annual Hotline Answers Public’s Tax Questions
The dreaded April 15 deadline sends many people into a panic and in search of a good CPA. You can help relieve those fears, answer some questions and receive recognition all at the same time by participating in the Dallas CPA Society’s 16th Annual Tax Hotline, coordinated in conjunction with the Dallas Morning News. The Hotline will be Sunday, February 8, 2009, from 12noon-4pm at the Dallas Morning News, 501 Young Street.

Another Successful Coat Drive!
Thanks to the many who contributed to the annual Coat Drive for the Love for Kids, Inc. Charity. The coats were distributed at the Love for Kids Christmas Party at Circle R Ranch on Saturday, December 13. These are some of the neediest children in the metroplex, and you responded to that need.

Volunteer Opportunity
Each year, thousands of low income residents of Dallas leave millions of dollars in legitimate tax credits and deductions on the table. And many spend hundreds of dollars each to have ill-trained tax preparers do their taxes then are talked into taking Rapid Return loans, which eat up a large percentage of their refund. Instead, volunteers are needed to help them complete their tax returns, and keep more of their hard earned money in their pocket.
