Welcome
Summer Activities for Chapter Members
by Paul Willey, CPA

Paul Willey, CPAThe Dallas CPA Society launched an in-house Toastmasters club.  The preliminary demonstration meeting was held June 23 at the chapter office with the help of Ben Brown, Kendall Helfenbein, Tim Pike, and members of the Dallas Toastmasters regional organization.  Fifteen people attended the meeting and discussed the direction for the year.  Watch for the formal kick off of our Toastmasters program.  An organization meeting will be held on July 28 - see these details!

Chapter committees are being formed, and members’ preferences are recognized to ensure vibrant participation in DCPAS programs.  The chapter continues to experience excellent attendance at Ethics classes led by Dr. Wayne Shaw.  The TSCPA has booked the chapter facilities for CPE sessions throughout the summer.  PAC activities are underway and the 2010 political issues are numerous.  If you have associates or friends who are candidates for state office, please advise the PAC committee.  Fall will bring new scholarship applicants, and the Scholarship committee will work with universities in the chapter’s geographic area to select the best students for scholarships.  Also, DCPAS will continue to provide USA Today newspapers for numerous students in the Dallas Independent School District.

The Board will continue the CPE 8-hour and 4-hour sessions.  Please advise Margaret Campbell, David Colmenero or myself of any potential sponsors for these Chapter CPE hours.  To relieve stress, two happy hours are planned to encourage networking among members.

The Leadership Development Academy participants and Task Force will continue to meet through October while at the same time organizing the schedule and subjects for the second group of participants.
