Chairman Message

 With the end of this month, the Dallas CPA Society is completing another successful year. Some of the highlights of the last 12 months:
Our Leadership Development group has introduced new activities for our young professionals: charitable participation, establishing a program for the second group of participants, networking opportunities and generally taking an active role in DCPAS functions.
We welcomed Lt. Governor David Dewhurst to discuss Texas financial affairs in November.
Over 800 coats and a virtual mountain of toys were provided in December by Dallas CPAs for underprivileged children at the Love for Kids Christmas party. A large group of our members also volunteered to staff this event, and it was a rewarding day for everyone involved.
The Tax Hotline, under the leadership of Ken Sibley, responded to over 500 phone calls requesting tax help and information. Callers were very grateful for the assistance and the Chapter received record publicity for this endeavor.

7th Annual Education Conference

The Dallas CPA Society 7th Annual Education Conference will be held May 26, 2011, from 8am-5pm at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas. As you know, this is the premier educational event for the CPA community in North Texas. This year we are expecting over 1,500 attendees. The conference will consist of 43 courses and feature well known, national authorities on accounting, finance, legislative, tax and legal topics of importance to the profession.
The conference features a special track on issues of importance to the nonprofit sector. As part of our efforts to help the nonprofit community in North Texas, we have arranged for Dallas CPA Society members to extend a special benefit to non-CPA Board members of Section 501(c)(3) organizations. Dallas CPA Society members may invite a non-CPA Board Member of a Section 501(c)(3) organization to attend the conference for the Member price of $25.00. This is an opportunity for us to give back to the community and help our nonprofit agencies in North Texas.

Dallas CPA Society Golf Tournament
June 13, 2011
The annual DCPAS golf tournament will be played on Monday, June 13, 2011, at Prestonwood Country Club in Dallas, Texas. Join your colleagues and friends for lots of fun, prizes, awards, good food, and more. Prizes will be awarded for closest to the pin, longest drive, straightest drive, etc.
Registration begins at 10:00am, box lunch at 11:00am, shot gun start at 12Noon, and dinner at 5:30pm.

Volunteers Needed - Plano Komen Race For The Cure
June 11
Each year the past Presidents and past Chairs of the Dallas CPA Society host a water table for the runners at the Plano Komen Race for the Cure. This year’s race will be held June 11, 2011, at 5400 Legacy Drive in Plano.
Please plan to arrive before 7:00am since that is when the roads around the race area are closed.

Young Professionals Group Forming Race Team
at the KOMEN Plano RACE FOR THE CURE - Sat. June 11
The Young Professionals Group has formed a race team for the Plano Race for the Cure. If you are interested in joining the team, just go to the Komen website – www.komennorthtexas.org – and register.
You will be asked to join a team. Search for the Young Professionals Group team and sign up!
The race is Saturday, June 11, 2011, at 5400 Legacy in Plano. Be sure to arrive before 7:00am before the roads around the race area are closed.
