Chairman Message

David Colmenero, JD, CPAOne of the Dallas CPA Society’s most treasured organizations for giving is Love for Kids. Each year the DCPAS helps drive this great organization by providing volunteers for the Margarita Ball, sorting toys and providing coats for needy children at the annual Love for Kids Christmas party.
 
In that regard, the DCPAS and The Margarita Society are currently seeking volunteers for the 35th Annual Margarita Society Ball which will be held on November 19, 2011.  The Dallas CPA Society has played an active role in the success of the Margarita Ball each year by providing volunteers and would like to again help meet this need as it has in years past.  Separately, the Dallas CPA Society also needs volunteers to help with sorting toys on November 20, 2011.  Anyone who has ever attended or participated in either of these events can attest to the magnitude and impressive scale of the entire operation.  In addition, these are both great opportunities to network, volunteer and have a few margaritas at the same time.  Those interested should contact Laura McFadden at 972/960-8311 or lmcfadden@cpadallas.org.

Volunteers Needed for Love For Kids, Inc.
Sunday, November 20, 2011 Toy Sorting

Volunteers are needed to assist in sorting the toys collected at the Margarita Ball held on November 19, 2011. The toys will be sorted on Sunday, November 20, 2011, at the Sheraton Hotel Convention Center.  One hundred (100) individuals are needed to sort and fifty (50) men/women/high school boys for boxing and loading the toys - please NO children.
 
Please dress casual and comfortable as you will be sitting on the floor part of the time.  Download the brochure for more information.
 
The sorting takes about six hours, 8:00 am to 2:00 pm; if you need to come late or early please do. For more information, please contact the DCPAS office – 972/960-8311 – or admasst@cpadallas.org.
 

 
Volunteers Needed for 35th Annual Margarita Ball
November 19th, 2011

For 35 years, DMS/DCC has been blessed by great supporters, highest among them being the hundreds of volunteers who have donated their time at our events throughout the years. From our annual Golf Tournament to the toy distribution at the Love For Kids Christmas Party and scores of opportunities between, friends new and old have stepped up to join us in our fundraising and volunteer efforts. Support from our volunteers is critical to the success of our efforts, and we sincerely appreciate their efforts in helping us reach out to children in need throughout the Metroplex. We certainly hope the experience has been as fun and rewarding for our volunteers as it has been for us.

Annual Coat Drive
Help a kid stay warm this winter! The annual coat drive has begun for some of the neediest children in the metroplex, ages 6 through teenager, sizes 6 through adult. These "gently worn" coats will be distributed at the Love for Kids, Inc. Christmas Party on December 10, 2011. Warm gloves, winter hats and scarves are also appreciated by these children.
 
Little effort is required: just decorate a box and take to your company, church or group. This is a good time since most of us are cleaning out our closets now and discarding those out-grown clothes. If you would like to volunteer to help with the coat drive, or if your company is interested in sponsoring a drop-off box, call DCPAS, Amanda Dupuis, at 972-960-8311 or email amandad@cpadallas.org with any questions.
 
We began accepting coats October 3, and it is requested we receive them no later than November 30 to allow time to sort sizes.

 
Sign Up for Love for Kids Christmas Party
Saturday, December 10

All of the toys collected at the Margarita Ball will be distributed to the more than 3,000 children who will attend the Love for Kids Christmas Party on Saturday, December 10 at the Circle R Ranch in Flower Mound. The Dallas CPA Society needs 90 volunteers for this event. Volunteers need to arrive at the Circle R Ranch by 8:30am. A volunteer party is held following the children's departure at 1pm.
